An Elementary Overview Of Express Entry Canada

Canada launched Express entry in 2015; it is an online tool replacing the paper-based application system to manage Permanent Residency applications for Canada. Following are 3 categories that fall under the express entry program:


1. Canadian Experience Class – CEC

Canadian Experience Class is allotted to those temporary workers who have at least 12 months of Canadian work experience. These are those individuals who entered Canada for further studies and managed to get a relevant work experience under the NOC: O, A, B skill levels completing 1560 working hours in a year by acquiring a valid work permit with an aim to get Permanent Residency in Canada.

2. Federal Skilled Worker – FSW

Federal Skilled Worker Program is assigned to a class of people who are located across the globe wanting to apply for Permanent Residency in Canada by meeting the FSW program requirements considering their age, education, skill, language proficiency and adaptability factors. The applicants will have to have their ECA cleared in order to apply for FSW. They will be allowed to reside in any province of Canada except Quebec.

3. Provincial Nominee Programs – PNP

PNP programs are devised by provinces of Canada to meet their demand of listed occupations for the respective year. They nominate/invite PR applicants for their province provided the applicants meet the skill, age, language proficiency and adaptability requirements or any other prerequisites listed by the province.


Above are four categories that are listed under the express entry Canada system. If you want to be selected in one of the categories of Express Entry draws and given an invitation to apply, then you will have to be amongst the top ranking potential candidates according to the express entry comprehensive ranking system. Applicants are invited from the Express Entry Pool through the Comprehensive Ranking System wherein the individuals qualifying for the draws conducted on the basis of their CRS points are given an invitation to apply (ITA). Once you are given an ITA you will have to provide a list of evidence to support your express entry profile and file for PR within 90 days.
