Canada Express Entry was launched in January 2015. Express entry is a online system to manage Immigration applications of skilled migrants. Canada Express Entry is not an entirely new program but has converted from the old system of paper based application.

The Canada Express Entry is applied to the key immigration programs of Canada like :

• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

• Federal Skill Trade Program (FSTP)

• Canadian Express Class (CEC)

• Portion of the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

Along with express entry a very innovative feature of Job Bank has been introduced where in the user who has applied at express entry can register to the Job Bank and can receive interests from employers from Canada or can approach Employers too.

The average processing times for PR applications through Express Entry has now reduced to around 6 to 8 months.

The Canada Express Entry selects eligible applicants on the basis of their skill and assessment results. Within the Express Entry System the Visa fees are required to be paid by the applicants after receiving Invitation to Apply (ITA) where as earlier the Visa fees were to be paid by the applicants at the time of application along with submission of documents.

The applicants need to meet the eligibility criteria based on factors like age, education, language proficiency, job experience, adaptability. The applicants need to go through the eligibility assessment by answering a couple of questions to know their eligibility to apply for PR.

The CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) has a total of 1200 points that an applicant can score on the eligibility criteria.1200 points is a sum of the total points allocated to each eligibility factor of the applicant.. The lowest ranking benchmark is decided by the Canadian government every month for the applicants to score on minimum basis and proceed further with their applications.

The year 2016 saw almost 15000 invitations issued by the Canadian Government under the Express Entry system. The invitations were sent on the basis of the lowest ranking cut off decided by CIC. All invited applicants would be asked to submit the documents and pay the Visa fees to be granted the PR Status provided once the formalities of the documents and Visa Fees is completed by the applicants.
