How Canadian Experience Class Helps Foreign Students in Permanent Residency?


Earlier permanent residency in Canada for international students was a time-consuming process. But, over the past years, with the introduction of Express Entry international students find no problem in immigrating to Canada as the process has now become faster and easier. Express Entry is an online system which maintains application of 3 federal economic immigration programs from individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada as skilled workers. CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS

Canadian Experience Class is an immigration program created for skilled workers who are either studying or working in Canada and hold at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada. Individuals who qualify under this program are offered permanent residency in Canada through Express Entry. HOW ARE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS BENEFITTED?

International students who visit Canada can eventually apply under this program for permanent residency. Moreover, international students who study in Canada become eligible for post-study work permit lasting from minimum 8 months to 3 years depending upon the nature of study the student has completed. Furthermore, if a student gains at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada while they are on a valid post-study work permit they become eligible to apply under this program and gain permanent residency by applying under Express Entry.

There are other series of requirements as well as which the international student needs to qualify:

  •   The foremost requirement is the student should have at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada.

(Skilled Work Experience is considered when an individual’s occupation requires a specific level of skill, education or training. Next, full-time work experience is when an individual work at least a minimum of 30 hours per week in an occupation that falls under the National Occupational Classification (NOC). In particular, NOC 0, A or B are considered when an applicant applies under Canada Express Entry CEC.)

  •   The student should meet the language ability of CLB 7 or NCLC 7 if the occupation falls under NOC 0 or A. Likewise; if the student’s occupation falls under NOC B then they should meet the language ability of CLB 5 or NCLC 5 to apply under Canadian Experience Class program.
  •    Should be admissible to Canada
  •    Should plan to live outside the province of Quebec

  •    International students get additional points for their Canadian education.
  •    International students get additional points for their Canadian skilled work experience
  •    Processing time is quicker as compared to other programs such as FSW
  •    Students will get permanent resident card directly delivered at their residence in Canada.
